iPhone Entrepreneur? The Money Is in Repair If You Provide Service and Care!
People try to make money off of iPhone applications. There are more than 140,000 apps for the iPhone. It’s a very saturated market. There are multiple apps that have the same purpose and there are very few new apps that don’t do the same thing that an old app does. So where’s the money in the iPhone niche? Keep reading.
First off, we have to define what we mean by the term “money.” Everybody has a different definition of what “works.” Some people are happy if they make an extra $50 a month. Others consider a business a failure if it doesn’t generate at least five figures a month. Our personal starting point for success? A new business should net at least $50,000 a year before taxes. I said “our” because myself, my wife, and our two sons work together.
So, yep, iPhone repair meets our minimum requirement. If you start an iPhone repair business, and you don’t net at least $50,000 your first year? You’re doing something wrong:
(A) You didn’t learn to do the repairs correctly.
(B) You didn’t learn the specific “Secrets of the Trade”.
(C) You didn’t learn specific marketing methods for the business.
Let’s look at (A): iPhone repair is like anything else. You can take a “Speed Course” where you get 60% of the information you need. And like anything else, when you go to perform the skill you supposedly learned, little things go wrong. Now put yourself on the receiving end? What if you have your iPhone repaired by someone, and when you get it back, the glass is not flush with rim or bezel? How happy would you be? You can see, it would be hard to build a business on unhappy customers, wouldn’t it?
What about item (B)? We all know what a Trade Secret is. After years of doing something, tradesmen (and women) discover valid shortcuts which save time and increase profits. Unless you’re involved in that trade for years, or you know someone who’ll share those secrets with you – you’re going to miss out! Knowing the inside secrets is the key to success. It’s just absolutely essential that you find, and make friends with an iPhone repair person who’ll share all their secrets with you, before you repair your first iPhone.
Here is what is important about item (C): Marketing is 75% of anything. What have you ever “purchased” (no matter what it is) that wasn’t marketed to you? If you were blessed to have good parents it’s only because they marketed themselves to you by being good parents. If you’re not divorced it’s because you market just enough to your spouse to stay married. And in each instance, a particular type of marketing is used. Repairing iPhones, iPods, iPads, and other Apple devices is no different. You must do more than market for repair jobs – you must know HOW to market for repair work.
